What sorta noise though?
a)flutter/compressor surge from blocking BOV - dunno what that does to GTi's though... works well for other makes/models...
b)intake noise from bigger and higher flowing pipework
c)Atmospheric BOV

As said above, you'd hear the stock plumb back or diverter valve if you open up the intake... usually sounds pretty nice.

Just the "Chuff" noise, similar to standard, but louder..

I think i'll attack his airbox with a holesaw first and see what difference that makes. Thanks for the help guys!

Just make sure you're attacking the underside of it (unlike that photo); otherwise you'll have a unfiltered air intake.
