The Corrado is on the SEVS register, which means it is accepted as a specialist and enthusiasts vehicle. So far so good. Now, to get one in that is NOT a personal import, you will need to find a RAW (registered automotive workshop) that will compliance the car for you. The following is taken straight from the RAWS Australia: Welcome to RAWS Australia Online website:

"It is then necessary for a RAW to hold documentary evidence that the vehicle meets the requirements of the ADRs, as required by the "Approval to Place Used Import Plates Determination" current at the time, and have the vehicle added to their schedule."

So you need to pay the RAW for their effort in adding the vehicle to their schedule, i.e. they become certified to compliance this specific Make - Model - Variant - Badge, and ONLY this specific one. So a G60 from '92 would need a separate compliancing than a '95 VR6 Storm for example.

Once done, the RAW is then allowed to import up to 100 vehicles a year. SO FAR NO RAW HAS CERTIFIED A CORRADO, to my knowledge.

The difference to a Skyline is that everyone wants one, and they get imported from Japan in numbers that make the certification proposition viable, anf therefore there are several RAWs that do. As stated in the above posts, it can cost anything between 15k and +50k to get a model complianced. THAT is why it's so hard.

However, if it's a personal import - no worries (comparatively).

Oh, as for the cost of shipping one over and complying with all the customs/weed&seed conditions, it would cost about $1500-$2000 for the shipping, then another $500-$700 to have the car cleaned, then administrative charges, say another $500 and then the import tax of course, which depends on the price you paid for the car. All up expect to add another $3000-$4000 +tax ontop of the purchase price.

All my information comes from my own research, but there are members here who have first-hand experience with this, and I invite them to comment.
