Caravelle/Transporter/Multivan etc difference in bumpers etc..

Hi all, I have a MY10 transporter that I want to get rid of the breadvan look of. Some kits say you need a caravelle bumper etc for the spoiler to fit on. Can someone explain to a VW newb, the basic difference between all the various models and whether they are all interchangeable, especially if the older bumpers etc, will fit on the new models and vice versa. Mine is MY10, but i just read here that its post june 2010 for the facelift, and i'm not sure whether mine is post or pre (away at work atm)

    Cheers

Does the bonnet have a cut out for the VW badge?

If not then its a face lift model.

The parts are interchangeable but you need to change bumper, bonnet, headlamps, wings and quite a few other bits.

You can change the commercial bumper for the uper spec bumper with no problems as long as its from the same shape (T5 or T5.1).

If you can tell us in more detail or show us a picture we can help you some more.

Of course, the only quick snaps I have taken of it are from the side and rear I'm pretty sure it doesn't have the cutout for the badge though, and a quick look at the dealer photo (though i'm not sure its of the same car) shows it without the cutout. Can you tell from a rear photo with the door up?

Can you send us a link to the pictures or can you copy the pictures and put them on here?

    Might be easier.

Sure, no problem. Sorry the doors were open, which probably makes it harder to tell, but I just snapped these pics to a friend to show the bike fits

Hard to tell but I think its a pre face lift looking at the wing mirror.

All the other parts I can see in your pictures could be off any T5.

    That includes the rear lights..

Sorry I am not more help.

No worries, guess i'll have to wait till I get home to tell. But how many bits compromise the front bumper for example? Mine looks like all one unit, but i presume you get the extra spoiler bit for the bottom with some kits? Just trying to wrap my head around how these things all piece together.

OK, so finally got home, and the manufaturing date is 03/10, but it doesnt have the cutout in the bonnet. Heres a pic, so is it the post or pre facelift?

    Heh, OK thanks rob

So now back to finding some bumpers that are finished. I have been talking with the local ABT dealer, and its a 7K package for skirts and spoilers etc, but thats without full bumpers, which for my van will need a lot of work done to finish nicely. I probably could have lived with it if the package came with complete front and rear bumpers, but to have to get mine sanded back to be smooth is going to be too much, so I may be just looking into some finished front and rear bumpers I think.
