VW Steel Wheels - where from?

Where could I get some standard VW 16" steel wheels for a T5? The dealer wants $108 + GST. I would have thought there would be a few sets around with people swapping to mags. Does anyone have a set, ideally in WA?

I'm planning on having a spare set with A/T tyres for holidays with lots of dirt road driving.

    Regards,
    John

Ask the blokes in the sales department (not parts or service) at the dealer if they have any lying about. If they don't......ask which company they use to do their tyres.

Next best thing is to ask the Holden dealer about Commodore ute wheels because from memory the T5 and the Dunnydore share basic wheel characteristics.

But in reality.......$120 per wheel is not a big ask.

Commodore is a good cheap option, done it on mine, however.....
Must be at least 16', standard steel 15' wont fit over the calipers.
You will also need to machine out the hub centre to 73mm and then fit hub centric rings to bring it back down to VW size.
Machining, about $100 and rings $20.
The reason for the machining is that the holden rims are a bit over a mm too large on the hub and no one makes a ring that small. 73mm is a standard aftermarket size and rings are easy to get.
Pcd is the same and offset is that damn close it doesn't matter.
Surf around momo.com and you will also find that some landrovers and beemers are a similar fit up with similar machining/rings required.
Sorry, you can't have my old steelies, I've fitted a set of 205/80r16 hilux tyres for the country trips.
Pic below is a VX series 2 Calais rim on my T5

Remember to check load ratings for non-OEM wheels fitted to your T5 (if you want to be road legal and 3rd part personal insured), and tell your comprehensive insurer too. Many of the wheels out there weren't designed with the load carrying capacity of a T5 in mind.

    G'day John.
I have a set of four genuine VW Steel rims in excellent condition, with OEM tyres and VW hub caps as well. The van had only done 15000kms in total before I went to 18's.
You could have them for $300
Unfortunately for the deal, I'm in Townsville.

You've probably got it sorted now but for others...

Go to one of the carsales websites or ebay and seach for someone selling a van with alloys on it. Give them a ring and ask if they still have the steelies. They'll probably part with them for cheap. If you need freight, use e-go.com.au depot to depot for a really cheap wheel freight option...set of 4 cost me $110 plus $35 freight from Ballarat to Hobart...even wreckers want $100 each!!

    Happy shopping...
