T5 squeaky drivers door

I couldn't find another post on this.
Have had a noise for a long time when opening and closing the drivers door.
Have sprayed everything without much improvement.
Then saw the below video clip and realised there was a cap that needed to be removed before lubricating. All fixed.
In my defence it is all painted white so doesn't stand out (to me) that there is a cap.

Yes, it should be done every time the van is serviced. Also don’t forget the sliding doors they need lubrications as well.

Thanks for that. Is there a particular method for the sliding door you would recommend?

Keep the tracks clean, use teflon base spray lube and don’t put a lot on them. I use mainly Wurth product for it.

I've been using silicon food grade...............seems to do OK.

Thanks also. But in reading the forums, which in the end confused me, I thought the view was not to use grease or silicone on the sliding door? But I can't remember the reason for not using silicone?

Yes, it is. It’ll last you long time. Their cans hold pressure very well, even after 10 years.

I thought the view was not to use grease or silicone on the sliding door? But I can't remember the reason for not using silicone?

The only thing I can think of not to use grease is maybe it will attract too much dust. I have been thinking of trying to inject some grease in the bearings on mine, after all that's how they were made. I have tried using Teflon spray, but it tends to wash out the original grease.
Re. the silicone grease, it maybe to stop getting it on the paintwork in the event of any future paint work. If anyone has worked in car manufacture, bringing any silicone product inside the factory is banned because of potential problems with paintwork.
