I just did a trip from Newcastle to Bullocks flat near Jindabyne and back to Canberra for an actual of 8.6lt/100. 2 adults, 2 kids, snowboards and associated gear. Average 107km/h and 118km/h depending on speed limits. I never run the tank way down low, usually fill up around 700km.

I read that some of you with 4 motion are still getting very good economy
I have never got better than around 11L/100k.
Scan guage shows most trips i get 12.5 avg
Real time i can get it down to around 9 if i cruise at 60kmh in 5th. Every now and then (very rarely) i will get a freak trip where it will show as low as 5.5 cruising at 60kmh. I personnally think this has something to do with DPF.
These are all with an empty van
I have had a remap and still get the same just better performance.
I also replaced the centre mufler with a resonator. This gave better performance but i think it made the economy worse. I dont know why this would happen.

I'm still getting between high 9 and low 10L/100. It mostly depend where I fill up, I try to get my fuel from the same servo. Always use the fuel additive - Moreys Diesel Smoke Killer or Liqui Moly, then every 3,500 -5,0000km BG244.
The van is fully loaded up and short trips only. Using BP Premium diesel for most of 120,000km. Oil changes every 6 months (probably around 6,000km). The van is MY05 4motion made in 8/2004, AXE engine no DPF.
I'm convinced that the fuel economy greatly depends where you buy your fuel, few years ago my daughter spent 3 months in Naracoorte and filled up her Touareg 3.0TDI at BP there, the difference between the Adelaide fuel and from Naracoorte was noticed right away. Now, I've made a trip to Mt. Gambier in my new Amarok and again filled up at the same servo in Naracoorte on the way back, even put 40L in the jerry cans, that was more than 2 weeks ago and still driving on the fuel from jerry cans, I can't wait what the fuel economy will be when I refill.

ours is a 2010 103kw Caravelle, used as passenger transfer vehicle. Sometimes it does long empty drives and sometimes it is fully loaded with full aircon towing a trailer. Since we put the 18s on the fuel economy's suffered a bit.

Best tank was 6.7L/100km. Averaging 7.7L/100km, MFD Trip-2 resets frequently as we are doing about 1300km in it each week. We find the trip computer is very accurate (we use fuelly to track it)
Best tank was nearly 1100km but as soon as we use the trailer it will drop significantly. Looking at the specs - a Caravelle LWB is lighter than the Multivans

Overall very happy with this vehicle. But we do wish it was available as a manual and the 132kw version

My MY07 T5, auto is just about to hit 200,000km and the average over this distance has been 10.4L/100km. My van can go from loaded, say 800kg in the van and a trailer 500kg tare with load so trailer grossing at 1600kg. Can get to 13.3L/100km with this load heading out from factory and then drops as the load is delivered (like a milk run). Should add my van empty has a kerb weight of about 2100kg.

I've just cracked 100,000 in my 2007 2.5 TDI Auto. According to my log, I've averaged 10.93 litres/100 km, with a best of 8.55 & a worst of around 15, the latter driving between Cobar & Broken Hill in a dust storm locked in second & third & so damned worried I couldn't chance looking at the radio to turn off the CD. Checking the figures, it seems like my economy has been getting a tad worse recently, since I lost an iforget sensor & went exclusively onto BP & Caltax diesel at the admonition of my mechanic. Could that sulphury Shell really have been giving me better economy?

Interestingly, running down the Newell on the cruse control has cost me a full liter/100k since they kicked the speed back up to 110 from 100.

    hello there,
recently went on a long trip to melbourne from brisbane in our 2007 128kw Highline 2.5 TDI.
Brisbane to Melbourne was the best economy at 925kms out of a full tank. Was brave/stupid enough to run it down to 1ltr left in the tank as i had a jerrycan to save me. So thats 8,6/100kms. Around town i average 620 to 650kms. Will be getting a remap done so hopefully looking forward to seeing economy get better.

You're doing quite well, and 8.6/100 is very good for auto.
You should see some improvement with the tune. If you're into the fuel economy, Viezu has the Economy tune, which should give you more fuel saving than the Performance tune. I see you're in Brisbane, contact Greg Roles (Carformance) the forum sponsor look at his details in the Sponsors section of the forum.

I just finished our first big trip in our new van (5 weeks old), and it went like a dream. I would go so far as to say this is the best vehicle I have ever driven for a long distance trip.
We went from Sydney to Pambula (via Canberra and Cooma) return, to visit family.

    Results were pretty good.

2014 103kw Multivan with wife, three kids and related paraphernalia for 4 days away.
    (a) 850km per tank (70ltr refill)
    (b) 8.5L/100km
    (c) 8.48L/100km

The leg back from Canberra to Sydney (@320km) our consumption dropped to 8.0lts/100Km indicated on the MFD.
