That's bad, but I think that others are getting much better fuel economy than you Sharkie. I never got nowhere near 13L/100km in mine. The worst ever I got was 11.6L/100km at very dodgy BP servo operator. My long term average is just below 10L/100km, short trips, fully loaded hills and town.Quote:

Mine is a 132kw DSG. Worst I got, was 13l/100km, when the van was fully loaded with camping gear, generator, motorbike, jerry cans etc. and a tandem car trailer with a beetle on the trailer.

I'm with you Transporter, nearing 5 years of ownership 138K km, average economy is 10.4L/100km and average speed has been 38km/hr for 128kW auto.

To go from a TDI to the TSI would cost me around $1,600 more a year in fuel
Yes I'd prefer a petrol engine, but I love the lower consumption and the longer range of the diesel

Well I've finally test driven a TSI350 Multi and it was an OMG experience, could a van really drive like this ?!!!!!!! Smooth power, no diesel clatter and none of the TDI hesitation when called upon to accelerate. DSG hesitation off the line still there :(
Having just driven our MV 1500km, averaging 8l/100km on the open road, the TSI's 8.5l/100km is something I could live with, even if it happened to be 50% more than that :)
I believe any drive that I pay for should at least be fun to some extent as well and the TSI is the 1st MV I've driven that delivered fun. Needless to say, specs (including bi-xenon lights) are being finalized prior to an order to ensure a 2013 build date fr a new TSI MV for us :)
That's fantastic news. The hesitation is nothing that the good tune couldn't take care of. :)
