    T5.2 electric door issues

    Hi guys,

My electric doors, left & right do not close properly from time to time (4 times out of 10, when hot especially), stop closing and ropen when 90 of the way.

I have massaged the rubber without much luck, VW want $1700 per door without labor

I remember a thread that was showing a fix of the sensor, I cannot find it.Can anyone help ? Thank you

    Dam

I have the same issue, and I find when I clean the track and lubricate, the problem goes away for a couple of months. I believe the issue lies in that the sensor is very sensitive on closing, and acts as a safety so as to not close the door on any body parts..... hence if there is debris or lack of lube, greater resistance.
Check all your rollers and tracks first. Ensure the bearings are working well. Clean and lubricate! I'd start there first. I ended up changing a centre bracket and roller as well as it was worn. $60, was a cheaper proposition!

Like our sunroofs those doors probably have an anti trap system in the motors [we call ours the anti johnny device ] over the last ten years or so more and more authorities are getting manufacturers to lower the pressure sensitivity so it only takes a few lbs of pressure to activate the anti trap device . Hollandia sunroofs had theirs back in the early 90,s and it was from memory 22lbs of pressure now its much less , so those doors would have to be maintained in pristine rolling condition to prevent activation of the anti trap .Now I am not sure about those door motors but our sunroofs have the ability to be reprogrammed so as to learn new tensions and voltage changes , might be worth investigating a reset procedure .

Does it happen at the same spot? when I reverse out of my garage and parked in the reflection of a large window it often “bounces”
Apparently if doors not properly aligned they’ll bounce. Also clean the male and female contact areas where door and pillar meets. I guess you are familiar with forced closing by holding handle or dash buttons till closed.

Do you mean that if I keep the dash button pressed it will close anyway ? That would be great

If you press and hold the button the electric sliding doors close with maximum force, same if you hold the outside handles while the door is closing.

I have the same issue now. My LHS door closes all the way .but the closing actuator does not activate.T5.2 electric door issues. If I close it with force manually 1/10 time it will activate. If I use auto close either from the handle or from the button , it does not activate.
Is there a way to recalibrate the close force?
I have cleaned the contacts on the close contact 3 copper fingers. Also cleaned and lubricated the rollers and drive wires.
It rolls with the same force as RHS.
What was the fix for your door?
I have heard sometimes the CCT board for the actuator gets corroded? I assume it's in the door , together with the actuator. But how to access? Di you have to take the whole card off? Is it just clipped on?
Need to get it fixed as it lets water and air in whilst driving if I can't get it to close . Might have take it to CW specialist ... Again.

Fixed this issue. Took the van to the local VW specialist. Found that the door needed an adjustment. Someone had mis-adjusted prior to me owning the van.
They took off the sliding door inside card. Adjusted the sliding rail arm in the middle and now the door closes fine every time.

Had time to look at my faulty electric sliding door again today, left door will not open with outside handle or dash button, will unlock with inside handle but must be pushed open Armstrong method, once open it will close by all three means.
I noticed today that the outside handle does not tighten up halfway when pulling it open, noticed outside handle does not release back door lock, the inside handle does release lock.
I checked the other side and outside handle starts pulling firm halfway out and unlocks the door latch.
    Any thoughts ?

Update... my door started to play up again soon after.
The vw specialist ended up replacing the control module inside the door.
That fixed it . This was a few months ago. The issue has not happened since.
