The brand like Davies Craig from any good auto parts store should have the cooler that you need. Just measure the old cooler and get bigger one.
Hey guys, got a t4 transporter & just got the auto transmission reconditioned.
Need a new oil cooler & wondering if you guys know any upgraded bigger aftermarket oil cooler so that the trans. can run cooler & hopefully be more reliable.
If you guys know anyone that can supply me with one & how much it would cost.
And the other thing, is the oil coolers different for other trans. or are they universal?
Thanks
P.S. It's URGENT!!!

Has any of you guys converted there original water oil cooler for auto trans into an air cooled system?
If so has it worked out for you? Heard of the 'Sonnax' conversion kits & sounds promising, is there any other company that supplies them? Want a second opinion before I jump into anything & risk another rebuild of the tranny...
Links are appreciated.
If I would need a special cooler, I would be seeing a good radiator specialist and have it custom made. In the case of the transmission cooler, fitting additional cooler in front of the radiator should be sufficient. You could also install the temperature gauge with the warning light or buzzer (my old Subaru L-series had one) stick with good brand for the cooler and you'll be fine.

It’s actually a simple design, just 2 cylinders that go over the original hollow bolts like this:

It replaces the water cooled system as you can see & when that’s finished it would have pipes leading out to a radiator
Hi,
I ran a sonax type external oil cooler on my T4 after a rebuild. Has done over 400,000kms since rebuild and still going strong, tho the car has been retired now. I fitted a fair sized cooler on the bullbar with a fan attached to the back. I also fitted a thermostatic diverter valve before the cooler (with temp sender) to bypass the oil cooler till oil temp reached operating temp. I Bought the radiator and diverter from Rocket Industries in Sydney. I acutally have a spare (new) Sonnax kit to suit a T4 if you are interested?
