There are 2 types of water pumps now and for some time. Most likely, when VW specifies longer timing belt replacement intervals, there would be HD water pump used with appropriate bearing and axial seal to go the distance.Quote:

When they did that, they whacked the computer on it and at was coming up as EGR electrical malfunction.......the usual fault.
(their rough quote was $2800......if that's what it was!)
So after gathering all the info and help from the aforementioned video, I grabbed one from VW and did the job.
Took two goes on the computer to initialise it but it finally tested OK.
It did seem to have a bit less power but gave a smoother operation through the power band afterward.
