    Number plate lights out

I had a light com on the dash last week, telling me I had a blown bulb. After looking I found the Number plate lights out, I took the covers off and checked the bulbs, all good.

What I found was the left housing had cracked slightly causing the positive bulb housing to break and become loose causing a short. I checked the fuses but could not find a blown fuse, I also ordered a new housing from VAG and have installed it, but still not lights as I expected.

I took it to my auto electrician today to have a look, he said they were getting no power, and no fuses were blown, so he said I need to take it to VAG as they have the means to fix it, amd it could be a body control module .

Every other light on my T5 works, any ideas on how I could fix this small issue cheaply?

If you haven't tried, try disconnecting the battery for a while then see what happens.

Sunny43 gave this tip in another thread and it worked for them....

TheKiwi thanks for that tip, I would never have thought about doing that, and it has fixed the issue. One would have thought it would just blow a fuse?
I am so happy this has been fixed, another modern car idiosyncrasy.

If I had been home earlier I would have beat the Kiwi with the info , had to work about 4 hours north of Brissie today so late getting back . Yes it is a strange thing the way the circuits shut down after a short .

I have that same light up and can't find why either!
Sometimes it comes on straight away........and other times after a few minutes of driving.
I think I'll plug the computer in and clear it on the weekend and see what happens after that.

Don't thank me Rev head, I'm purely stealing Sunny's great work!

My T6's front left day time running light is always going out. Its not blowing the bulb, it's a dodgy connection with where the bulb holder "screws" into the head lamp assembly... Drives me up the bloody wall having the warning light pop up all the time.
