We're looking at buying an earlier model low roof LWB T5 for a campervan conversion, which means looking through a lot of online ads.
The problem is a lot of ads don't specify if it's a LWB or SWB, and the fact that they tend to use weird angles when taking photos, coupled with I've only seen a LWB in real life once and don't really know what to look for means I have a hard time telling if a vehicle is LWB or not.
AFAIK the SWB has the sliding door end right before the wheel arch, whereas the LWB has a gap between them, and the cargo area has an extra strip halfway down the van, whereas the SWB is evenly divided. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.
I was wondering if any of you could give photographic evidence of the differences between the wheelbase models. Also, it seems it's common to use 45 degree shots from the front, which makes it hard to see where the sliding door ends near the rear wheel. I'd also appreciate photos of the cargo area from the rear since that is another common shot, both with and without panelling.
I guess I should go out and see one IRL but the nearest VW dealer is a cramped little thing that only has one type on show, and VW vans don't seem to be very common around here.
Thanks in advance.
