I've decided to try and chase down all those rattles that have been annoying me for a very long time. Couldn't find many rattle threads here. Have found most of the suggestions on the euro forums. So I thought I'd make some notes about mine here...although I haven't finished the process yet. The problem is once one is fixed it seems like I can then hear a new one

PS - I would also like to add a curse for all those so called professional panel beaters, mechanics and auto elecs (a big exception to Boris at Volkscare though) who I have paid good money to work on my van over the years (and I have had it from new...and I curse the original dealer too . Most of these problems and other things I have observed along the way are just their shoddy workmanship, especially when finishing off and putting things back together.

Instrument cluster unit rattle;
If I pushed the top of it I could see it flex back about 5+mm and made the noise. Had read that the rubbers at the top could shift or the 2 screws that hold it at the bottom could have come loose. It seems to be neither of those for me. I noted that the auto elec has had this unit out before as there is wiring work done behind it. But when it was put back in place, you have to push hard at the bottom of the unit as you are tightening up the screws. Otherwise the unit will rock back and forth and rattle.

Glove box door not closing properly;
Although I don't think this was causing a rattle, I couldn't work out why this was the case and how to fix it. However once I fully removed the glove box, I could there was cabling left that was impeding the glovebox being pushed all the way back into place. Once this was corrected I was able to adjust the glovebox door correctly. Again the auto elec had had the glovebox out while doing work previously.

Broken white clips on plastic trims that have been removed and replaced;
Again I don't think it was causing any of my noises. But 50% of those clips or the grey plastic mounts that support them have been bent and broken and now won't clip in correctly.

Rear door dent repair;
I thought this had been done well. Looked good from the outside. And I never put 2 and 2 together on that rattle that appeared down back at some stage. Then I was hit again in the same place and the new dent repairer who came to my home, showed me how the spot welds between frame and skin had been popped by the previous repairer and left like that. Sure enough I was able to create the annoying noise in that area. Sikaflexed along that seam and rattle was gone.

TBA...I have that rattle that sounds like it is coming from the passenger pillar between front and sliding door;
Have so far done those adjustments to the door fittings as suggested. I will redo them as I am not 100% positive of my work. However I also noticed under the car near there is what looks like a plastic cable tray which makes alot of noise when I push it. It has been worked on when I got my remote power system installed. Need to get the van up on stands to have a proper look.
