    Amarok Diff / Axle Oils

    Hi,

How often do you change your diff and transfer case oils? I don't buy into the 'filled for life' that VW tell us.

There seems to be precious little information about it on the net. This links seems quite useful

but then this link goes and contradicts all the information on fill qtys (need to keep reading through the 3 pages

For now I guess all I can go on is this the below oils. I have checked with VW Australia and they are available.

Front Diff - VW part number G052 145 S2 (requires less than 1 litre)
    Transfer Case - VW part number G052 533 A2 -
    Rear diff - VW part number G052 539 A2

    Are these the correct oils?

Also, I believe access may be very difficult for the front diff filler plug?

    Any tips or advise appreciated.

    Thanks!

it was once 20,000km for trans fluids at nineties. If you DIY and it needs only 2-4 L fluid Id still do it every 20,000km or 2 years.

You are right - they did an Amarok video just in the past month or so doing all the fluids. This would be a good one to watch Neddy.

Thanks, I'll check out that video tonight.

I ended up calling Volkswagen and confirming the above part numbers are correct for the front and rear diffs. Front took 1L and rear 2L. Should be good for the rest of my ownership now!

Use an adapter, make one if you have to from the drain plug - use your old one and buy new one from the dealer, or just tightly fit the rubber hose in the drain hole and pump the right amount of new oil in plus 50ml, when done quickly remove the hose and refit the drain plug.
