    More specifications are out now.

Petrol now only available on the top-spec Aventura (where it deserves to be). FYI, this engine combination is essentially the EcoBoost Mustang 2.3 10sp auto but with AWD. Tuners reliably extracts in excess of 300kw with only Stg2 modifications from this engine. Might need to make a trip down to VW (although I still have severe issues calling this a VW).

Hmm, unless you want Core or base model your only option is fords very problematic 10 speed auto or 6speed manual. Why did they discontinued the current 8 speed ZF?

It looks like that my 2018 V6 will be with me for a very long time.

Perhaps because the new "Amarok" is 100% Ford now and Ford does not use that ZF in the Ranger. The new "Amarok" is built in a Ford factory alongside the Ranger and every component is Ford.

I will also be holding on to our Amarok ... if they made a special edition (Sports edition) with that 2.3 petrol and a 6 spd Getrag manual (like in the Mustang) I could possibly be swayed though.

If that 10 spd auto is a problem, the 6 spd manual works for me.
8.6L/100 with four people and camping gear (V6 trendline with canopy). And that included some 15 klms of offroading in low range. Am partial to those ZF autos though. Perform well in sports mode.

Good to see that the rear cabin space has been extended. It needed it. Including a strut on the tailgate is a step in the right direction. First thing I did was to purchase an ezi-up/slow down strut kit for the tailgate. Would've thought a torsion bar was standard.

Increasing the wading depth is neither here nor there on a ute. I used to have a KB series Isuzu 4WD and those things would float when they got out of their depth and leave you pointing upstream, so unless you had the skill to do a ferryman's glide to get out of a river crossing, you were in trouble, as you had only one chance at this in a manual before water would get into the clutch.

All the new release Amarok's need now is VW to come to the party and include bonnet struts as standard. And maybe provision for a couple of aircraft landing lights or similar that aren't going to interfere with airflow through critical systems.

And the provision of a tow kit as standard. (the Canbus side of things that is.) You don't buy a ute unless you're going to tow something with it and you shouldn't have to muck around adding stuff to the wiring harness that should've been there in the first place.
