Thread: What did you fix/replace on your Mk1 today?

  1. #971

Today I fixed up my fan motor.

I also made a bracket that attaches to the bottom of my seat that holds a fire extinguisher. After having a RX7 catch fire on me once I always carry one with me. It saved my RX7.... Hope I never need to used it.

Next I plan on making a bracket for my first aid kit... it's rather extensive but having paramedic training in the past I've always kept an med bag.

What did you fix/replace on your Mk1 today?

Did some PDR on the driver’s door and removed the ugly fuel requirement sticker above the filler cap.
And ordered a new roof. So much work to do!

I came to know by my son that the car has run for more than 3000 miles now. So, I have decided to change the oil myself. I have learned that there are 3 things that we should know before changing the oil. It seems funny to discuss them here, but maybe it can help anyone. 1. What type of oil and oil filter you need. You can get help from the user manual. 2. Locate the oil filter. 3. How much oil engine holds?
I have opened the bolt and drained out the old oil. Replaced the oil filter and then refilled the engine with new oil.
    I think I did a good job.

    You washed a MK1?

And it didn't add to the rust already there?

    Impressive.

Long time lurker, first time commenter.

The Golf has been running too good, so on Sunday I fitted an ‘in cabin’ boost controller.
Last night fitted a 924 Turbo fuel pump and replaced the stock rear drum brake pressure valves with some disc brake pressure valve to fix a “brakes grabbing” issue caused by the residual pressure valve.
