    Smoke begone

So! Bought golf Tuesday. $330 from the local wrecker. Good body, engine started but blew tonnes of smoke. Don't know much about engines, but put some thicker oil in it, which helped a bit. Then today on advice of a wise friend added moreys oil stabilizer, suddenly... No smoke!!! Exciting stuff. Mk1's are the bomb.

Now, new rear brake cylinders, new leads and hoses, and this bad boy will be good to go.

This forum looks great. Anyway just wanted to share my good experience regarding fixing exhaust smoke / blow-by. I searched for tips about excessive smoke on here earlier but didn't have much luck.

Can anyone advise on good parts shops near Adelaide?

    Cheers!

    ask and thou shalt receive.

HSY autoparts (google it) have a branch in Adelaide and always seem to stock most parts you'll need. i've always had good experiences with them.

    welcome to the forum!

being a swallowtail basically just means it's an early model, and has some very specific features that later model cars have.

Have a look in the rat and retro thread, for some inspiration

    Thanks.

I had a look on google before I saw your post and found http://swallowtail.info which had a detailed list of all the differences under Facts>Oddities.

Heh, okay okay! Screenshot or it didn't happen, huh?

I've only got one at the moment. I'll take more in better lighting soon.
