    'schwalbe' the swallowtail

so i've finally crossed over into the world of MK1's

as many of you know, this little beauty popped up last week, and it was too good to pass up.
Its a light blue (i think either flipper blue or ocean blue?) 4dr Feb 1976 Swallowtail called Schwalbe (swallow in German). yeah it may be a little original, but it fits nicely IMO.

so over the weekend, i drove to SA again with my old man to buy yet another blue golf.. yeah i bought my 16v from SA too.

driving her back had no major problems, just the brakes aren't quite adequate enough for the simple task of braking yet she still made it home in one piece
over all she's in really good nick. got a punchy little 1.6, an unbelievably good interior (except the dash) and as far as i can tell..... NO RUST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Things to do/get:
    - new suspension
    - fix brakes
    - make gearshift bushes
    - lube up clutch cable
    - lube up accelerator cable
    - take stupid spotlights off
    - uncracked dash
and im sure there are plenty of other things...

for now i want to just get her on the road, and driver her around, so i can get into the mk2 a bit more.
    and then vise versa..

    support vehicle..

.. and finally home making friends with long lost rellies (there's a mk4 too)

    Cheers,
    Dave

    Planned on it..
    Need to get some coilovers.
Then the RS' will go on the mk2 and the RA's on this for now

Yeah I was really surprised when I saw the a/c.. Didn't expect it to be on a mk1. The mk2 does even have a/c!!!
