    Both of my golfs passed without accel pedal rubbers. they never had them at all. clutch and brake did of course.

    Slap on some skateboard grip tape.

    bit bit of 120grit sandpaper also works if you dont like your wet shoe slipping off the pedal rubbers!

    The 75 and 76 models did not have a rubber pad on the pedal.

    From 77 onwards there are pedal covers shown in the catalogs although the parts listings that far back are incomplete.

    From 1980 onwards part number 171 721 647 is shown for both LHD and RHD pedals.

    There's a couple of different pedals with different cable attachments at the top.

    Bit more research and it lookslike the same rubber was used on the T4 Kombis, probably still an active part at VW dealers.

    I'll see if I can confirm the T4 part number.
