Dude.... You've gone all this way not to invest in seals. Mark man just do it. $300 is a small price to pay for something that's designed right and will make a hell of a difference in comfort. Your mk1s awesome and deserves the best.

Nah 300 is too much man! Good for me, mk5 4door rubbers work! they are a tad big so closing the doors take a TAD more effort but it doesnt bother me, and only set me back $30!!!

Mk1 ... mk5. Mk1? mk5? Where is the connection hahaha, how does 30 years difference mean no difference in door seals.

    Many confusions

Funny thing is, mk3 and mk4 dont work haha. However, mk5 seal sit in the door frame and not on the door so instead of using the standard mk1 U-channel that sits in the mk1 door frame and the seal in the door, i removed the U channel seal and used the mk5 one on its place so no need to use a seal on the door. Just works in reverse

so you took the pinch weld off and put one with a seal glued to it? Sound like a good idea!!
But does it seal property where the A pillar is? And are you running scuf trims at the bottom? Sorry mark hahah I'm a little puzzled as to how the entire door is sealed🤔

Ill post a pic tonight, but yes, the entire door seals. I have removed the scuff trims as that's the door gap was biggest (car had a part accident and the skirts are a tad off)

Ohhhhhhh, so you did the seal on the body and not the door itself, gotcha. Oh and lovely looking seats!
