    Mitch's Mk1 GTi

Recently purchased this little gem off of a fellow vwwatercooler Squirrel

Been searching for one for years and finally came across the ONE!

Would like to thank Squirrel for the smooth sailing with the purchase and the amount of respect he had for the car!

She'll be my longest project behind in line of the Mk2 and R32

Took a couple of snaps of her today so here she is!

Looks nice! Good to see one thats been done in the 80's style rather than the shaved chrome style. Looks like its trying to be an R32

Needs a cabby grille to go with the bumpers and kit - would finish it off perfectly

    What engine?
'07 Touareg V6 TDI with air suspension
    '98 Mk3 Cabriolet 2.0 8V
    '99 A4 Quattro 1.8T

Very cool. How originally built the car?

Hey Mitch, she looks awesome in the photos and I'm stoked she's gone to a good home.

There's a Golf-sized hole in the garage now and much to my wife's annoyance I'm already talking about filling it...

You're spot on with the engine description. Think she was dyno'd at >130bhp many moons ago. Would be interested to see how many of those horses have been out out to pasture...

To give everyone a potted history of GTI 81, I bought her from my mate in 2009 - he migrated here and shipped her out in about 2004 having spent thousands on a full rebuild that took so long his Dad painted the garage floor around the car. Definitely he needs a medal for taking a fairly standard mars green '81 GTi and turning her into the fantastic car I inherited. He actually fabricated a lot of components himself and the whole roof transplant is amazing in itself - Mitch it'll take very little to get the electric sunroof working again I reckon.

Really looking forward to seeing her progress, and if you ever sell her or that gorgeous mk2, I want first dibs please

Hey Mitch how's the Golf going? Any more done to it?
There is no Golf in my life. This is unacceptable...
