Normally they go with the lever on the passenger side so the cable pulls from a bracket on the manifold or rocker cover.

Does it matter which way around the carb is? have googled and read to have primary furthest away from engine. opinions?
Second, Does anyone have a pics of how their throttle links are set.

What did you get the throttle leaver from?
My weber didnt come with one, and the stock one wont work.
Thanks for the pics, I see Ziggy? uses a diesel cable, is that longer then the petrol one?

About the same length I think.
The levers I have all came with the carbs. You can get universal ones from speed shops.
