First Hi everyone, I am a newcomer to Australia and happy to find a local forum for such a great car!
Now, I bought a convertible (TYPE 15) auto this was as I thought the Mk1 GTI was too difficult to find here... I have to do a safety check for registration and the mechanic said the brakes were not good enough. He did not even put it on the brake testing machine, but put on the report that:
- excessive brake pedal travel, less than 20% of travel remains
As most of you know, this is a known issue with Mk1 brakes which brakes well but late. This is something you get used to anyway and it did not occured to me it would be a problem... The car passed two month ago when I bought it and less than 1500 km later he said I have to change MC... blah, blah... Probably because he never set foot on a car like that?
Would you suggest a way to solve this? Is there more tolerant safety checks around Sydney?
Txs for your help and BTW I am looking for parts, any good address to share?
Cheers
