Checked oil level on the weekend after 21,500kms. That's 6000kms after the first service and the oil has not moved on the stick so I've concluded it has now settled. Very happy

Had the 15000km service yesterday and noticed they've used Mobil 1 ESP instead of Castrol.
Googled it and it's probably this stuff:
Mobil 1
She's used 3.5L up to the 15000km so we'll see how she goes from now.
Also they upgraded the programming on the DSG as part of the service under the VW 37G7 CAMPAIGN. Heaps smoother, more noticeably at low speeds.
Not as much as a busted gearbox.
Regarding the "fix" that I am sceptical about at the least (how a different hose can stop blow by is beyond me) it seems this too does not work. One uk member with both apparent fixes is not showing any sign of consumption improving.
If its not working on (now 2) other cars, I'd say it's more coincidence than anything. After all, it must be a pretty awesome pipe that can stop the blow by issues when it looks identical to the original version....
Sorry was commenting on the DSG program not oil usage. i also cant see how a pipe size change would do much. maybe a oil/air seperator would be more the go if thats what there aiming for.
i had done 2500km without a drop used. then went on my first long trip (200km highway then about 50 in town and 200km back) and the stick droped about 3mm.
That's bizarre because in my experience its always been the stop-start/short stint city driving that increases the oil usage. On every long stint I've done the car never used a drop. That included many weekend trips to the folks 2 hours away, a VIC/QLD/VIC return in 3 days and MEL/SYD/MEL return in 2 days. Furthermore, the usage has definately improved since those longer runs.
Ah ok. Well I don't want to sound like a d**k but I think you are experiencing a placebo effect:)
37G7 only updates the software to re seat the shift solenoids when the car is turned off. The reason the car feels different when you get it back is because the ecu has been reset. Disconnect your battery for an hour, does the same thing.
