    2015 GTi DSG - Thunk/thump when shifting from 2nd to 3rd

    Hi All,

I have had a 2015 Polo GTI for about 6 weeks, over the past 2 days the car has developed a thunk/ thump noise when shifting from 2nd into 3rd whilst using paddle shifters or in semi-automatic mode. This noise /(rough change) does not happen in 'D' or 'S' or in any other gear. Car has only done about 1200kms.

Any ideas before I head to VW tomorrow ??????

Sounds like the "supposed" fixed mechatronics unit isn't really "fixed" either that or the usual DQ200 box is funking up again. If it's happening more frequently take it into your local VW service centre and have it "vigorously" inspected by the chief Mechanic / Foreman not the usual grease monkeys.

Thanks for your help mate. Is the Chief mechanic the official title/position to ask for ?

No usually they use "Senior technician" or "Senior mechanic / foreperson".

Perform a reset on it, and drive it how you'd normally drive, and report back.

Due to the DSG's adaptive capabilities, its very easy for them to learn some bad habits.

mine also does it, changing from S to D seems to fix it, but yeah it slaps 1st to 2nd and to 3rd and then shifts as normal. light throttle in S and then to D does seem to reset it back to normal mode. seems to happen once a week for me. mine goes in to vw in a week

the slapping into gear only seems to do it with the shifters and not in auto S mode or auto D, only manual be it sport or normal

Take the Senior Technician for a drive and demonstrate the problem and get him/her to agree that it's a problem. Otherwise you will almost always get it back with the "can not duplicate" problem.

Happens to mine.. done well over 5000Kms...
Seems like the shift from 2nd to 3rd will Thud when u shift right around 3-4k rpm.... Keep an eye out on that, either shift earlier to wayyy later in the range.
