A couple of manufacturers make springs for the different front axle weights. The Koni's I was looking to get in for Justin's (celestine) Polo did, H & R do as well from memory.

Hello all!
I have a 2007 Polo Match (Tiptronic).
I've just replaced the standard tyres and wheels for good condition golf gti rims with Toyo Proxes 4 tyres. I have already noticed an increase in grip, but am still left with a lot of nasty body roll. Furthermore, there is a terrible gap between tyres and guards.
Now, if I still had the ss, I would have no qualms doing a ryobi job (ie, chop the springs) to make it sit on it's guts, but considering this is a new car and I value my life, I would like a good set of springs.
The two issues I have are the following:
1) The car is tiptronic 1.6l, meaning there is a little more weight over the front end then a manual 1.6l. I am having trouble finding good spring manufacturers that make a spring for my application.
2) I don't know how low I can go with the stock shock absorbers. Theoretically, I would love to bring the car down to the lowest possible legal height, but I have a feeling I will need to change shock absorbers so the back springs don't pop out
Any help appreciated.

Try speaking with Allsprings in Moorebank, they make springs as low as you want.
I had a set in my Charade G102 and the car was lowered just below legal limit of 100mm. I had the car running like that for about 2 years without needing to change shocks.
The only problem I found was that they were not smooth enough for Sydney roads unless you had a few passengers in the car to add weight. The Charade is a light car and the springs worked better when there was some weight on them.
They were cheap too at around $300 for the set of 4 without fitting.
I know that Kmac offer a similar service, but was wondering if I could find something that's been put through the tests and scrutiny. I've had eibachs before and they were fantastic.
I looked at H&R - n00b question - has my car got a front axle weight over or below 830kg? Keeping in mind it is a 1.6l with the tiptronic.... hmmm

make sure the coils you get are of the type that dont fall out when you jack the car up(progressive rate ?).cheaper brands(without naming names) dont have that ability.
choose a brand like H&R,KW or eibach for example, which dont have that problem.

Thanks for that gpk!
It looks like 35mm is a decent drop that won't sacrifice ride or the suspension geometry of my car.
Another question - will changing my stock shocks over to polo gti items be worth the effort and expense?
stock shocks from which model to a polo gti???ahh I get it....
is that new gti items???

There's a few people who have swapped out stock Polo GTI spring and shocks for Eibechs, Konis and others. Getting a set of those, while not giving you the full drop you are after, might be a good way of getting at least some semblance of a tuned set-up.
sorry if this is a stupid question but where do you guys buy these brand of springs from,
im in sydney and just looking to get better springs in the near future.
eg.
Eibachs
H&R's
Konis
thanks
