SAI (Secondary Air Intake) bypass with APR software

Ladies and Gents with APR tuned 9N3 GTI's.

I had asked Guy from APR to look into the coding of the SAI codes encountered by some when bypassing the SAI system. For whatever reason, this issue appears to be more prevelant on APR tuned cars than some other softwares. This is to say, that using the blanking plates, resistors, etc does not make the code go away, and the light on the dash is not doing any damage, but prevents indication of a real issue (and is unsightly).

Guy has been kind enough to delegate some resources to this matter and has advised he will be offering a SAI bypass version of the tune in the near future (technically available now, but it is yet to be distributed as APR does in batches I assume).

At this time the cost has been advised as $250, which given the work required to code out and I believe APR will stand behind the coding and support their software and that the dealers uploading the code require a piece of the action, seems reasonable to me.

Regardless of the costs or how many people go down this path, I'd like to thank Guy for looking into this for us.

I've chosen not to add this to an existing thread as I think it would get lost in amongst the conversation for future Polo enthusiasts.

Feedback / comments / interest welcome.

For what it's worth, this worked for me, and may be worth a try on problem cars (ie, it's cheap). The original 300ohm air pump resistor from IE resulted in a code. So upped resistance to 400ohm, got a code part of the time. Upped again to 470ohm, and now no code for many weeks/kms. Touch wood.

    Cheers.

SAI (Secondary Air Intake) bypass with APR software

Badger in the UK is apparently all over it, but its custom.
My code is always flow, I sent Guy the code info for APR to map out.
If CC had a solution, that would help me move to that tune as I've been talking about for ages...

I haven't confirmed they write it out but there's a couple running with deletes done, including mine. So I'll report if mine crops up again.

Please do Gav, like i say its not resistance but flow codes, i know for sure the pump can be requested anytime , and have had reports of the light coming on during a journey, just a thought, all of the tuned ones that ive seen with lights are not CC and of course non tune is non tune therefore ecu un touched. Could be something in that, im really keen to hear but, Gav this could be significant mate they have had other tunes, Jasons does have a light but his aft probe has dramas so will discount that for now, fingers crossed

If it's any help, I have an untouched ECU and currently have the CEL for the flow pump.
I've been meaning to get the APR tune in the next few months, so if a untouched ECU is needed, happy to offer up my car as guinea pig.
