    SAI delete advice needed (again)

Finally did the full SAI delete today using the integrated engineerinig resistors, forge blanking plate, etc. Now have a CEL I can"t get rid of. All electrical connections are sound.

I did run the engine for a few minutes before connecting the resistors - would this be the reason?

Any advice appreciated re removing the CEL.

If you ran the engine before connecting the resistors it will throw a CEL. I did this when changing my plugs and had to clear the code. A cheapie OBD II scanner will even clear it.

I am guessing no reader Jimmy or he would have mentioned trying to clear it?

Sidenote Jimmy, when I did the delete on the S3, there was no CEL afterwards and I still haven't fitted resistors. It initially complained of low flow but that had gone last time looked at it. Will that go away after a number of starts or something?

Yeah Gav probably right there pal, somebody scan this mans car!!! like Sam says any reader will do just to clear the codes, in that case you are probably sound and your ign cycle with unplugged has logged the code, i know if you ign cycle with the one for the Combi valve for the SAi it will def log a code instantly. Gav onto your question, ill check , wife has my work laptop in car at the moment and she is out. Im sure it will eventually log a code , actually if it were 2002 onwards it would im sure it owuld throw a MIL. Before that they werent so sensitive. BUt i will check that for ya.

Thanks Jimmy, Mine is early as you know only one lambda probe etc. Don't spend time on it if it impedes your drinking time

Yeah, no scanner. Maybe it's time I bought one. Any recommendations for a cheap(ish) one suitable for a technological dinosaur? And will all the OBDII readers on ebay connect to the standard VW port?

I am afraid you'll not see me recommend anything except VCDS, which isn't cheap.

I bought a bluetooth thing to run with my Android phone but I don't trust it to read codes. It seems ok at putting a boost gauge or intake temp up though.
