    Noisy something on boost

I've become aware of a noise that I think is a recent development. After a recent drive in the cold, the car was making good power and this was the first time I'd really pushed the car in a while. Fresh oil and filter are the only recent changes.

When the car is warm, under full boost I'm hearing a noise that to me sounds like a hard rattle, or noisy lifters or injectors... Sounds like its from the drivers side of the engine. When driving at 80 or 90% throttle, the noise is not there.
As noises are hard to describe I'm interested in what others can hear with the drivers window down when they are WOT and boosting hard. Could it be the way the air is moving through the IC? Could be a small boot leak, but more mechanical sounding than air sounding...

Is sounds like a quick succession of small events that makes it sound as if something is moving or not quite right.
No codes, no visible issues under the hood, no loss of power. It's not a pinging or scary noise, just trying to understand which component it may be or if I should be looking at anything in particular.

Expecting to have to describe the noise better, sounds like a good excuse for some boosty driving.

Metallic rattling, like a loose screw? I know there were big issues with the turbo bolts. Mine came out, and you you could hear it at full boost. You can put you hand behind the engine and feel for the 3 bolts (make sure the engine is cold)... I'll see if i can find the thread it will have more information.

Loose Turbo Bolts - growing problem

Haven't read this but found while searching:

    Loose turbo bolts solution?

Mine were fixed by a dealer under warranty year ago and haven't had an issue since.

    Noisy something on boost

I dont think its a loose turbo boltNo, not a loose bolt, I've had that one, replaced bolts. Sound is more localised to driver side of engine bay. If I had to pinpoint, I'd say its from the intake mani area.

Engine mounts is an interesting idea, do they make noise? I've had more vibration at idle recently.
And just after the group buy...

Thanks for the ideas, more welcome... Just had a look at my dipstick which is not well secured without the SAI pump to hold to. Will tie that off, see if it goes away.

When the engine mounts go the car vibrates under acceleration, feels like a wheel is out of balance.

Checked all my post IC and connection clamps. Many had stretched and were loose. Car feels a little perkier, glad I did. 2 were done up totally blind behind the driver-side headlight. PITA.

Noise is still there, after more driving it sounds less localized than I'd originally thought.
Starting to think could be the turbo bolts. last time (around 10k kms ago) 1 was missing, the other 2 loose. Wouldn't really be surprising that was the issue.

Did a viable solution get found? I know there was some engineering for the solution, feeling lazy to look for it.

is it sort of misfiring under full boost?

this happened to me couple months ago...and it got worse and worse, so bad that I lost a cylinder...turns out it was a coil pack?
