I have to have a serious drive of a GTi one of these days to see why they need more rear roll stiffness to balance the front and rear slip angles - the balance of my TDi was perfect with just the cup kit and when I wanted more roll stiffness to control the camber better, I went with an both a rear ANTI-ROLL bar and a stiffer front ANTI-ROLL bar to maintain the balance. Both the bars are Whiteline
The rear sway helps keen the front planted in normal driving. Most ofy experience relates to street driving, not track, so that's where the focus has been. With a good tune and some mods, there is too much torque for the stock setup, stiffening the suspension all around has helped a lot, but is a compromise.
I have to go down the rear LCA bush path too, as one of my stock rear LCA bushes is shot. Have read every thread on the topic and just hoping a couple of things can be cleared up. 1. Have read a lot about the polyurethane/nolathane whiteline/superpro bushes being harsh. I know they can be - I've had them in previous cars that were also lowered with lots of roll stiffness. I suspect that a lot of the people who have said that they are harsh might have other extensive suspension mods - I'm hoping to hear if the harshness is still an issue on otherwise stock front suspension though? 2. Is it also true that polyurethanes can be installed with the LCA's and subframe remaining on the car? 3. Is the installation of SEAT cupra r solid rubber bushes a straight forward job within the realms of a non-VW mech ie. I've heard mention of the need for a VW 'special tool' and gather that the subframe needs to be separated from the LCA and removed from the car for this job (versus installation of polyurethanes)? thanks very much
- Not sure - I don't think anyone, here, has installed polyureathane bushes without other suspension mods
- Yes, vwthunder has done this by cutting out the original bushes (the polyureathane bushes will slide in)
- No, if you have the tool, the rubber bushes can be installed without removing the console frames.
Have a look through my cheapy thread for bush installs. I have the tool, you can borrow for postage and a $20. They aren't harsh just a vast improvement over shot away standard ones.

Thanks for the help guys. Think I'm going to go ahead with the solid SEAT bushes (assuming these are the cupra bushes that everyone raves about) as reading the threads has jogged my memories of the incessant squeaking and creaking of nolathane. I'm still tempted by the anti-lift/dive & castor adjustability of the superpro's though, if you think that their benefits for the street outweighs the creaking!! If I do go for the SEAT rubber bushes, where do Australian forum members usually source theirs from? By the looks of it the SEAT bushes can go in with the subframe still on the car provided the VW tool is used (otherwise the subframe has to come out and a press used) - is this correct? thanks Sam

I don't get any squeaking what so ever, in my Polo with the Superpro bushes fitted. If you look at how they are fitted you will see why. Rotational movement, not twisting.Quote:

I swapped ot the lca with superpro lca items. No odd tools needed if you do a swap. I also put in the remaining tyrolsport locators. The old arms were good but i wanted to put the front end on a diet. A wheel alignment is the only thing needed after the work.
