    Groaning from engine bay

An odd groaning sound is coming from the engine bay. I honestly can't tell where it's coming from. I've never heard it before but unsure when it started. Today, it's was quite loud. Just loud enough to hear from the cabin when idling. Let me know what you think...

Hard to tell obviously but sounds like an idler pulley on its way out or the alternator, something outside the engine. Get a long screwdriver and put it against your ear and put it against bits of the engine to find where it's loudest.

does it get worse with engine revs when stationary? Is it there in neutral with the clutch pedal out and then goes away when its in? More when you labour the engine in too high a gear, when you take off or lift off and the car nose dives? Cornering, accelerating only etc? Try to give us a bit more of an idea of how, when, where it happens which might pin it down a bit more.
