    $530 for 30k service? (Melbourne)

My Polo GTI is due for a service now and I'm wondering as to why I should pay $530 for an official dealer service (South Yarra) as opposed to e.g. leave the car with Volkspower who'll probably do it for much less.

    Do they do anything different?

My Accord Euro is serviced more frequently and at the Honda dealer but even then it doesn't add up to the cost VW seems to have me looking at.

    Thanks folks!

I get mine done by Seb in Sydney and the 30,000km was much much less then $530. Some people at resale time will prefer a car serviced by the dealer. Get a quote and find out

True. But 'some people' don't realise that a dealer won't look after your car like a qualified European enthusiast mechanic will.

    Why pay more for less?

Oh yeah I agree, take it the euro expert. But some people here who turn over their cars often, might consider paying the extra for the a dealer service to make a big enough difference when it comes to resale.

    Hiya!

If you're willing to travel, Wipples Motors (they service VW, Mazda and something else I can't remember) in Toowoomba has an impeccable reputation. Even when I wasn't buying a VW, their name kept coming up even from other second-hand car dealers.

Now that I have bought a VW Golf, they were the only place that had firm prices for services and could tell me EXACTLY what would be done. They even look over your car for free. (No matter who you buy it from and not for a service or anything)

I actually thought it would be cheaper to go down the coast a bit and get it down closer to Brisbane but after a few phone calls of, 'Oh ummm.... yeah ahhh that'll be you know, around $200-ish and yeah, that doesn't include labour <scratch scratch> so uhhh yeah...'

And no real answers on well, ANYTHING really and HUGE variations on what service should be done when, I realised that I was wasting my money phoning around.

I think they are reasonable priced, no dearer than the other places I called (when I could get a firm price out of them, like pulling freaking teeth!)

    Their deatails are;

    Wipples Motors
    169 - 181 Herries Street
    Toowoomba Qld 4350

    Ph: (07) 4631 9999

    Hope that helps!
