I have a cheap POS vent mount holder that I bought from Big W and have stuck in the drivers side vent. It's OK except that I need a piece of elastic around it to stop the phone falling out occasionally.
Since I been working this new job and spending more time in traffic I been looking at mobile phone holder for the car. There are thousands of mobile phone holders that stick to the window with a suction cup but im looking for something that will mount somewhere lower and more discreet. I dont want the boys in blue to see if im checking my messages while sitting in traffic or at the lights.
There are the one that sit plugged into the cigarette lighter which is not exactly ideal considering the lighter plug sits under the flip up cover. I dont want to drill holes in the dash, superglue leaves a mess if it ever has to be removed and two sided tape does not hold well if you travel on bumpy roads.
I have found this as possible option:
Amazon.com: Brodit ProClip VW Volkswagen Polo 02-09 #853027: Electronics
Or maybe something like this (not sure if they make these for the polo:
Amazon.com: Panavise Custom InDash Mount for VW Jetta '05.5-06,GT '06,Rabbit '06: Electronics
Would like to hear your ideas. Pics are even better!

I used these guys for my mount:

And the Polo Mounts:

They do vent mounts too and the best part is none of them require drilling so can be removed if you ever need to. The other bonus is if you get a new phone you keep the base plate and just replace the phone part with the appropriate part.
They are a little on the expensive side, but work very well.

I bought one that fits in the cup holder and has a gooseneck for the phone. It tightens in the holder so it doesn't move.

How about this?

Sticky 2" velcro, can't beat it. I've been using velcro on all of my cars for the past 10 years. Get the 2" wide stuff from Bunnings or somewhere similar, stick a 3" strip of it (the rough side) somewhere on you dashboard and stick the soft side to the back of your phone...
Cheap, simple and it works!

Every state's road authority has a rule to this effect (the wording may even be identical - this is taken from NSW)
The phone must be in a commercially designed cradle and affixed to the vehicle in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions. It is not necessary to have the cradle professionally installed.
It is not permissible to affix a mobile phone to a dashboard with velcro, or by other ad hoc measures.

I have the Clicon/Brodit mount in my Polo. Had it for 3 yrs with no issues.
HoldMyPhone mountings are the same as Clicon/Brodit. Cheaper to get it from UK![]()
