    Polo 6N2 20 V Turbo Project

    Hey there

This is a car me and my son will be building up. We have already bought a 20 Valve engine and just waiting for delivery. We will be removing the current 1400 16 Valve motor, Gearbox with shift linkage and we will be selling the rims and tyres which we will advertise in the for sale column.

So we will be putting up pics and asking for advise as we go along.

    Andy and Ondrej

P.S. how do we put pics up?

I'll be keeping an eye on this!

the 6n chassis was crying out for a decent engine, sounds like your going to put one in!

So what's the idea behind the build? Building it just for fun, daily driver, track days or anything?

This is going to be a very interesting thread. I had my 97 Polo with Matt for a week trying to fit a 1.8 motor and gearbox from a Seat but it just wouldn't fit. Subframe would have to be severley modified and the motor was too tall.

But like Golfman says, the old Polo's are crying out for a decent engine. If you can carry it off it should make for a really good car. Size is similar to the MK1 Golf and it doesn't take much to get it handling really well. With a decent engine and suspension mods it's sort of like a modern MK1.

Here's mine before I hit a kangaroo and wiped out the front passenger corner. My MK2 is nowhere as refined to drive but it does go quicker. If I could fit the MK2 mechanicals into the Polo I would be a happy man.

i have never spend so much thought on how to tackle this project and reckons everything will fall in place as we go along. my hardest project was building a rwd mk1 golf by installing a golf mk2 front suspension in the rear. so hopefully this will be an easier mission thanks to everybody for showing interest. we will try to show people the ups and downs as we go along where somebody may have better ideas or insight to help us along aswell.
