6n2 polo - Wont Turn Over

Car has been sitting 5 yrs. Gear box back on, fresh battery. Wont turn over.
Solenoid is clicking. On first try motor turned slightly, but now wont turn at all.
Locked up some how? Oil remains unchanged from 5 yrs ago, and I dont know how old it was then.
Engine did not come out, cant see how anything would have got jammed in the belt.
Oil on the dipstick is ok, quality and quantity.
I CANNOT move the flywheel by lever (at the flywheel cover).
    - what have I done in stalling the gearbox that could stop the engine rotating?

Only things I can think of are:
    - to pull the plugs and spray something in to the cylinder to lubricate?
    - is it possible that air con, or alternator, or another ancillary has seized and is stopping the engine turn over?
    - corroded connectors on starter?

    or....

    - pull the box again, which I really dont want to do.

Pulled the starter motor off, earthed it, it seems to work, admittedly with no load on it.
And I still cant move the flywheel.

That box is going to have to come off, isnt it....

Feel im talking to myself. Box is off. It turns freely. thrust bearing seems ok.
But I cant turn the engine by flywheel, even with plugs out.
Next steps, take the RH covers off and see if I can turn it via the crank bolt.

put some diesel down the plugholes, leave it for a few days, then put some oil down the plugholes, leave it a day, then try to turn it over without sparkplugs in

you're definitely running the risk of breaking rings
