Thread: Recommended Audio Installer in Perth?

    Recommended Audio Installer in Perth?

Thinking of changing the stock HU with the DVD/Nav/iPod HU from China and also change the stock speakers/add Sub to my MK5 Golf.

Anyone can recommend a good installer, especially one that has worked on MK5 Golf before. I'm a bit paranoid about getting this done by a slob.

    Thanks

mate, i have been to hell and back with **** installers on my Polo

DO NOT use anyone in Morley...thats ALL of them

I was very happy with ALBERTS in Osi Park - head unit change was supurb

Don't try and cut corners and save $$$...you will regret it

BE SURE to have them guarentee no scratches on removing and installing around the head unit facia...thats my only tip

the most important part of your system is the head unit

you will find that a lesser quality unit, no matter how great the speakers & amps - will give you **** sound - after changing my speakers and leaving the stock head unit i was utterly dissapointed with sound quality...change the head unit and boom, awesome sound

I would be investigating a stand alone sound processer that can be tuned via laptop - you may need it

Alberts morley are ok. But I wouldnt touch anyone else in Morley ever again.

I keep hearing very good things about AOne Audio in North Perth. Seen their sticker on quite a few cars lately, including a heap of mercedes so they must know euro a little bit.

Also, runamuk has used em for his mk3 vr6 and even tho its only mid-range alpine gear, his system sounds really, really good.

Give A-one a go. I've seen porches n stuff there.

Not only do they install stuff, they also do electrical repairs there as well for things like plasma telly's. When I had a split box go, they soldered it themselves rather than sending it off for repair.

I got them to fit comfort close windows on my 94 VR6 for only like $80 more than the usual keyless entry install.

No I don't work for them

Alberts do very good work. From my experience, they're not cheap, but they don't try and compete with the dodgy bros. You can't really compare quotes, coz their work is a class above - they take the time to get installs done right. You might cringe when you hand over the money, but you'll be forever proud of the work they do. Plus they're pretty professional to deal with. Most car audio places are really dodgy, but that probably also comes from them having to deal with wankers all day long too. (Gimme me some sick subs and a billion watt chinese amp bro!)

Other than them pushing Kenwood *ack*, most of their gear is pretty good too. If you're going Amps, don't even consider anything other than Rockford Fosgate, amazing stuff. If you must go Alpine amps, only get the really big ones (V12's or whatever they're called). Personally I love Rockford, you could call me a total fanboy.

I wouldn't worry about their experience with Mk5s, the only thing I don't know is how good they are with OEM head units. If you're changing your head unit, no big deal - but if you're keeping it you might want to get some info from them.

I'd love to upgrade my kit, but I've got the Sat Nav head unit in my golf, so it limits your options somewhat.

    Never mind.

I'm having no love with Alberts Osborne Park. Spending $4k with them and they can't get the job done right - the sub is farting -; the delays have blown out to more than twice as long; they've broken clips; the soundstream guy didn't know his product wouldn't work with the canbus on the rns510 without an additional module which meant more time waiting while it was ordered from the east coast.

All in all, the guys they have on contract doing the installs are a hit+miss..the ones I got were a young mob who probably know what they're doing, but absolutely have no respect or knowledge for VW's or new cars. They return it to you in a mess. I don't even know how they can be proud of their work.

sheesh! If I had another car, I wouldn't go back to them.. not after the hassles..although I might go to them if it's a small job such as replacing one set of speakers..not if they have to tear your car apart and put it back together. THey seem to know only how to tear.

    just my own personal experience.
