Derek is really professional with good customer service, quite obliging and doesn't seem stressed or disinterested like where I have been before. The workshop was super tidy and the place has a real professional feel unlike a lot of repair shops I've been to. I've recommended him to people. He's also an APR dealer, so handy for the ECU flash and other bits.

And how in the world do you get back to civilisation after dropping off your car? I know there are buses to Mona Vale, but I would need to allow for 1 hour journey each way. Work would not be happy with taking so many hours out of the day just for a car service.

I have heard so many good things about them, and their pricing for servicing is decent. Only prob is transportation and time.

I called yesterday and got a price and then asked if it could be while I waited. Sadly as the answer is no for the reasons you mention hands, I have had to pass using him this time.

old thread, but my brother used EA since 2002/3 when he owned a b5 rs4, serviced it for 7 years with derek. always good service.
i now get my gti done there.
derek is a straight shooter. gets to the point and isnt one to mince words when it comes to the cars he services. in fact he told me flat out that he didnt like the titanium exhaust tips that i wanted installed. i said fair enough, but i liked them so i got them installed somewhere else.
derek was toying with the idea of starting another workshop in north sydney, but the logistics and the landlord were giving him grief, so he has done something even better, and he will be running a mobile European Autotech service van (vw transporter i think) fully kitted out with all the tools and diagnostic equipment to service cars throughout sydney at home or office.
basically anything that doesnt need a hoist, the van can do.
which is perfect for me, as although i live on the northern beaches, it still takes me 30 mins to drive to mona vale. so having a van come to my home is super convenient

Is European Autotech still worth going to? I need an end of warranty check done in the next couple of months. Cheers.

    Wouldn't recommend

Not for performance vehicles / cars that do the occasional track day

Wouldn’t recommend for someone who’s looking for guidance and advice about what to do to upgrade their car for amateur speed / track events. These guys did an APR Stage 1 Tune, then when I asked for a recommendation for brake replacements - the recommended option didn’t even last 1 track day, and had a terrible experience attempting to rectify this. Accused me of ‘abusing’ my car and left it parked out the front with a big sign it was unroadworthy. When I questioned their recommendation, they told me “if we told you to jump off the harbour bridge, would you do it?”… Thought I could trust a European car performance specialist for a recommendation about brakes…

Go somewhere else, unless you know exactly what you want and can direct them to do it.
