Pretty sure you're correct.
However the 502/505 isn't suitable for extended oil change intervals i.e. 25,000km. Not that you'd want to leave your 504/507 oil in there for that long anyway as allowed by VW in some countries.

Correct. 504/507 is meant to be good for 30K drain intervals, although I wouldn't tempt fate...
I'd rather use 502/505 and change every 15k than 504/507 every 30k.
I use 502/505 in 5w40 due to oil consumption issues using 5W30 in my MkV GTI.

In a petrol engine, that's fine.
But not in a diesel, where 504/507 is a must.
The problem in the USA with 504 is the low additive levels don't work well with the alcohol and sulphur in our gas. Dealers use 502 5w-40 and 10k intervals.
I don't trust any oil past 10k, the downside is too great.
Direct Injection can ruin most any oil....

It that graph from Bob the oil guy forum? I have near all my oil tests. I'd like to add mine.

I topped up 1L of 502/505 between service by mistake. I thought there is only one type of castrol edge, turns out there is LL version (504/507). Can anyone confirm if 502/505 is okay?
