VW Golf MK6 1.4L Twincharger 2012 Engine Light after changing Sparkplugs

    Hi Guys,
I have a golf MK6 1.4L MK6 twincharger. I have just changed my spark plugs with some NGK irridium model: BKR7EIX-11 stock number: 6988.
They were sold as being the correct one for my car model.

It was fine after i restarted the car and went for a drive. Next time I started car the engine light came on and now it stays fix there.

Is anyone could help me please? I have not touch my car since then as I dont want to damage engine if something goes wrong. When I used it though and engine light came on I did not hear anything different than usual. no smoke or anything like that as well.

    Thanks
    Nic

Purely a guess from the info you’ve provided but I’d check you coil plug connections...

The CEL may have to be physically cancelled out now that it’s activated...

Where did you buy them from?
There is a lot of fake Chinese NGK plugs getting around.
NGK release a statement warning everyone about the issue. Some legit store in the US got caught selling fake plugs without even knowing.
They look identical. You have to check the serial numbers on the NGK website

You got a link where we can check the serial numbers? I cannot find any.
I was looking to get new plugs today, its been 40,000km since last change, I paid $46 for 4, today its $84.
Reading this made me think, are those plugs real.

So I pulled them, they look great. I will now leave them alone for another year or 2.

    Back to OP
If you did this DIY, then go back and check everything.
Did you check the gap yourself?
    Did you check the torque?
Are all the coil packs pushed down all the way?
Are all the coil pack connectors clipped in?

Another thing, check you have not broken any vac lines etc.
I'm not familiar with this engine, but did you have to remove an engine cover ? possibly the intake or such? Check it is all back together correctly.

The link I sent should work
Confirm they are genuine then work from there
I had a mate in the same position. Couldn’t figure out why he was misfiring, turned out to be fake spark plugs that was completely out of spec.
Worse case plug in your old ones and see what happens
