VW Golf GTI Mk6 crunching noise.

Hi guys, has anyone ever encountered this weird crunching noise from the DSG while upshifting or downshifting to 3rd gear. The noise only happens about once or twice per drive, cold and hot. Car is a Golf Mk6 GTI DSG

How many km's are on the car and is the car modified / driven hard at all? It could be a faulty gear selector fork or worn syncros on 3rd gear but could be something else obviously - worn bearings or failing mechatronics etc. If you are lucky you might get improvement by simply carrying out a DSG adaptation which adjusts clutch clamping pressure etc to account for wear as the car gets older.

Id be getting it looked at sooner rather than later though otherwise you may end up ruining the gearbox.

The car has 185,000km. From my reading, some people got it fixed with a DSG update/adaptations, so will try that. Otherwise seems like the 3rd gear synchro or the fork could be possible culprit.
