So all owners with a recall are going to be annoyed?
Seriously?

I didn't say annoyed, you did.
I said 'a loss of confidence'. And I reckon that having your DSG repaired/ replaced and also knowing that it is a worldwide recall would generally result in a loss of confidence in the long term viability of economical ownership. And that would be with owners who have previously had a trouble free gearbox. The ones that are on their 3rd gearbox repair have already lost any confidence in the product. And anyone who has experienced (or worse, their wife or daughter has experienced) the 'loss of forward motion fault' while driving can reasonably be expected to be ready to cut and run.
You may be a touch smug with your 6sp DSG (the good one). But anyone with a 7sp problematic DSG with an out of warranty repair bill of around $10000 may be a little less so. I wonder if they will get a refund on repairs already carried out now that VWA is acknowledging the failings of their gearbox just like VW has done elsewhere in the world.
Have to agree with what was said regarding a repair that was charged to an owner for a faulty gearbox before the recall was announced. Will Volkswagen Australia reimburse previous repairs to the DSG? I in fact know many owners personally who are in this sort of position. I would like to know what rights are there in that scenario.
Give it 6 months and everyone will have forgotten about it. We live ina 24 hour news cycle world.
Lots of people are still buying Toyotas despite massive recall campaigns in the last few years.
