S2TPP Replacement DSG / Tiptronic Paddle Shifters Group Buy

    Hi All,

There is a decent group of VWWatercooled members who are expecting their new Golf R's in November, and in our "constant pain-state of waiting", we started discussing a S2TPP Replacement Paddles Group Buy. But in the spirit of these forums, we're extending the offer to all members who have appropriate vehicles.

There are two versions available, one in "Silver Brushed-Clear-Anodized", and one in "Black Sand-Blasted Anodized Finish".

The advantage of these still of paddle shifters is that they are larger than the stock VW paddles and extend a few inches above the horizontal wheel spokes and a little below them. This means you can reach them from the "10 - 2" hand position, and have a much better chance of reaching them during a very tight left or right turn where you've had to turn the wheel greater than 180 degrees.

The appropriate vehicles are any MKV or MK6 Golf GTI / GTD / R32 / R owner, or B6 Passat / R36 / CC owner - as long as you already have the standard VW paddle shifters on your steering wheel. Does the MKV Golf GT or Jetta have paddle shifters?

There is more information on the S2TPP VW page.

It requires the removal of the stock VW paddles to install these. It's not difficult, but it requires some patience and care. Here is a video made for the Oettinger versions which is applicable for the S2TPP versions:

There is also an instruction page on the S2TPP site.

    Group Buy Now Completed

VWWc members have already committed to purchasing the required minimum of 10 pairs of paddles, so S2TPP have setup the group buy page for us.

    The pricing is:
$149.95 USD for the Silver Anodized Finish, plus shipping - or,
$169.95 USD for the Black Anodized Finish plus shipping.

The shipping is $12.95 USD for "International Economy (2 - 3 weeks)".

I placed my order just then (Friday 6th August) and the Black set cost me $205.54 AUD delivered. From this I can deduce that the Silver set would cost $183.06 delivered. Please keep in mind due to constant exchange rate fluctuations that your AUD total will vary slightly.

Purchase is via a Paypal account - so you can use your bank account or credit card.

The group buy will be accepting orders until August 31st. Individual orders will begin shipping August 12th. Expect 2-3 weeks delivery time from the date of purchase, unless delayed due to high customer demand.

Please post here to let us know if you have taken up this offer, as the feedback and numbers will be useful/appreciated. Questions are welcome, but please keep it on topic!

Big thanks to Michael Bello from S2T Performance Products for his assistance with this

Got a date you're going to order by once you have the 10?

I definitely want some, but still debating whether I should, given the whole tampering with the airbag and potential insurance issues....

Once there are 10 people committed to purchasing (which by this rate, should be some time before the morning), I'll send an email to the contact at S2TPP and they'll make a page on their site where VWwc members can place their own orders for these paddles. Since it takes 2 to 3 weeks for shipping, I'd say that people would have them in the next month.

You need to decide for yourself whether you're up to performing this work, but there is no requirement to tamper with the airbag. All you're doing is removing the horn/airbag cover on the steering wheel. If you're not sure you're capable of doing this, or if you're concerned about possible issues down the track (insurance or otherwise), you could pay an authorised VW workshop/specialist to do it for you. One member has even had his dealer agree to fit the paddles to their car prior to delivery!
