    Unhappy Roof Lining

    Hi all,
The roof lining on my Mk 6 has pulled away from around the glasses holder. I am wondering if anybody else has this problem or if VW Australia has a recall for this problem?

    Kind regards

I just noticed mine has too, same place. I was speaking to an old friend a few months ago who has a Mk5 GTI and he had the same problem. I also opened the bonnet yesterday to top up fluids and the bonnet lining was falling down too...

Very common, seems VW are getting worse with this. My experience MK4 lasted 12 years, MK5 10 years.
    Now I see MK6 at what 5 or 6 years ?

Mine started at the glasses holder and is now about 30cm back. I've heard VW will sell you a replacement liner for about $900-1,000, i don't know if that includes labour. I've had a quote from a a guy in Sydney that handles old classics etc that is $350-400 and guarantees his work. There's always a risk it won't match perfectly but in my opinion that's worth it to save $600+.

MY12 GTI here and lining is falling off near the sunglasses holder. Car only done 35000kms VW quoted me a discounted price of $700 to get it fixed because I was a returning customer (bought MK7 TDI)

Mine is still working its way around the sunnies holder. Place in Brisbane say they can match the colour.

    Roof Lining

An aftermarket car trimmer will replace the lining for a few hundred dollars - dont waste your money at VW.

For what its worth, the headlining in my MY10 GTI with 80,000km is still good as new.

Hi All, Thanks for your help. Our old Commodore lasted 20 years before it started to fall. Thing that worries me about VW genuine is will it also do it? Have been given a trimmers number who replaces them here on the Sunny Coast for about $350.00 to $400 but will wait to see if it gets worse. I sourced the replacement for the Commodore up here and did it myself for about $30.00 so I might give it a try after a bit more research about taking original out.
    Regards
