Hi Again. With the paint finish on the car. I rubbed it with a "lunch bag " and it felt realy rough. So i did the clay job. It is still rough with the lunch bag.
The paint surface has a irregular appearance, smooth but irregular. If you look at a reflection . the edge is not straight , but jaggered. The surface is not smooth as glass. The paint looks good , no problems , but it is funny that it is " ripply"
I am still with it.
While i am in the mood from Graham. I hope i am not giving you the s..ts.
Our current ride is a 1998 Subaru Forester and a 2002 Honda Jazz. The plan was to to replace the Jazz with the VW golf.
But Carol, my dear wife wants to keep her Honda Jazz. So the Forester has to go.
I must say that the 1998 Forester is the greatest car ever, good vision and no problems, a wonderful car.
So i hope that the 118 TSI can be as good as the 1998 Forester.
I realy wanted the Golf plus the Forester, but i am the the mere male in the family. and i do realy love my wife, and somehow she seems to have the say. ( somehow i seem to get what i want ? ) ( Like a new Golf )
I know how you feel Candyman, my car was on the Fidelio too, (docked 22/8/11) but still no word from dealership !!............ the wait is agony
YEE HA!! Collected my car today. Love, love, love it. Took it for a long drive (300km) through some twisties and fast open roads. What an awesome machine. I love the pop sound when it shifts up a gear in sports mode. Took the advice from this site and ran it in driving it like I stole it and cant wait to get up in the am and go and do it all again.
See you all on the road.
You go girl :)
Now change your sig and give us a review when you get back
God my Golf R has been pushed back again...the ETA is now Jan 4th 2012....Aug -> Nov->Dec ->Jan...is it that hard to build my car???
Signature changed.
Review. Have been over Mt Glorious twice in 2 days, the second time at 5:30am this morning. Now for those who don't know this is some of Qld's best road, an absolute mecca for bike riders and my old haunting ground when I used to ride. Driving in manual mode with the DSG is such a pleasure, hearing the pop as the car pushes against my back and the blip when I change down as I brake hard into a corner and smash the pedal to the floor on the exit. Highlight, smooth, smooth roads coming through a rainforest, down the side of a mountain with plenty of 20km (recommended) corners, that opens out into fast flowing roads in open farmland. Keep going and you have a choice. Left, Fernvale at the end of 10 mins of high speed driving, with less gear changing I turned up the stereo and listened to my fav tunes through the dynaudio. Tough choice, the natural soundtrack of the engine and gearbox doing it's thing, or the high fidelity soundtrack of the stereo. Go right and you have 40 mins of empty roads that wind round the side of a big dam and slowly back into civilisation before turning right and heading up Mt Mee (another awesome bit of road).
This car reminds me of my bike riding days when you would go for a ride just for the joy of riding. I've had the same experience in this machine. I now drive for the sheer joy.
Those of you who have your R's will know what I'm talking about. For those of you who are still waiting. Hang in there. The reward will be all the sweeter for your time. I promise.
Now. I was told this prior to delivery but this Black is going to be a right b#!tch to keep clean. Off for it's Opticoat this week. I think I'm going to have to develop a detailing obsession but I think it'll be a task I enjoy. Just have to decide if I'll clean it Saturday for my drive on Sunday or clean it Sunday arvo for the week. Please don't suggest both... ;-)
Haven't seen any other R's here in Brisbane until today, I saw a RB one and went to flash my lights and activated my wipers instead. You'd think it was the first German car I'd driven.... Have decided to stick with the black talladegas - they look so much better in real life than they do in the photos and really give the car a sinister look. I love it.
