I'm also getting this skipping problem which is only a small irritation, but it'd be good to see if there is a fix for it.

I assume my 2011 R will have the latest MDI firmware, so I doubt it is that?

Um... everyone doesn't need it. Some people need a USB cable, some a blackberry cable, some an iPhone cable. Given that Android is now outselling the iPhone around the world, it's a little bit arrogant to make comments such as the above...

Well, everyone needs one type of cable or another, otherwise MDI is useless.

This is an example of optioning that doesn't make sense to the buyer's experience. When you tick the MDI option, they should include one type of cable you can pick. Or alternatively, give you all the variants, afterall cables are dirt cheap when bundled together at manufacturing end.

If you ask your dealer politely they might throw in the iPod cable for free.

every dealer ive spoken to had the cable included without me even asking.
