Not sure if my MDI is dealer or factory fitted. It's in the glove box, what does that mean?
Also, are SDHC cards supported? When I put mine in it doesn't seem to detect it? Do the mp3s have to be in a certain directory?
I am not sure about the experience of 3GS + MDI + IOS4 but 3g is not going good with iOS4 and MDI. Problems such as MDI saying "device not supported" and sometimes nothing showing up on MDI (iphone restart needed), also resume ipod music play does not work often going back to the SAME SONG (top of songs folder)...awful skipping of the songs, and sometimes song title completely diff to what the song is playing. previous version of iphone soft. while not perfect worked much better. I guess MDI will have to be updated soon or perhaps IOS4 ironed out.
dont know why people don't just leave an 80-160gb iPod in the car.. would be annoying to unplug your phone every time you jump out of the car. Just a thought :)
well personally I like using iphone as it charges my phone on the go, I have same playlists when I drive and when I am in the gym, if I need to use tomtom the voice is spoken via car speakers, if I get a call ipod is muted and can use my jawbone bluetooth....this is why I like using iphone and mdi.
G rig is exactly what am doing with my iPod touch. Remains permanently in the car hooked up to the mdi iPod interface. And can confirm works just a treat. There's is only the very tiny skip at the start of tracks, bit like dropping a needle on a record hehe, but yeah otherwise there's no delay or anything. Night flight sounds like integrates pretty well with the iPhone too !
Or if you're happy with 32GB and want it on the cheap, just buy a SDHC card ;) Or, want to have more music than it would take to get the car to 100,000km? Buy the USB MDI connector, then buy a 750GB 2.5" HDD and throw it in there :D I guess you don't get playlists, but you can sort the folders how you want them.
