MDI niggles

I don't have an iPod, what I DO have is a 500MB pen drive attached to the MDI. It plays the tunes in artist alphabetical order. They're mostly MP3s and I've edited the properties of each one to artist & title, eg Emser Evodia. I can skip backwards and forwards, part way through a tune and it will always display the correct name of the tune. I didn't copy the tunes onto the pen drive in alphabetical order, but the TOC is read in alphabetical order and that's how they play.

The tunes were mostly downloaded from a recording web site that I frequent and they're all talented amateurs (especially Emser).

My iphone doesn't skip songs and always starts in alphabetical order. No probs with it. I just leave it in shuffel mode (MIX on the RCD-510)

I meant If you play an album take note as it can skip songs.

If it's on mix how do you know if it's skipped a song if you catch my drift :).

:) its not on mix when im in an album, only on mix when in the general all music folder :)

Either way I'll be asking for a new MDI as it simply isn't good enough and factory fit is worse than the last one I retro fitted so they have screwed up something with the new firmware. May have to get an aftermarket headunit.

Your last MDI was connected to a RNS 510. It's most likely the RCD 510 that is at "fault".

I dont think so, I was using the MDI with an RCD510 (previous model with the TP/Trip buttons not the AM/FM buttons) which worked perfectly fine with the MDI. Beats me.

I wonder if there's a setting somewhere to force it to play in the sequence in which the tunes were copied?

Yeah not sure, i didn't change any settings on the RCD-510 and just copied them normally on itunes.
Yours doesn't play in alphabetical order?

Anyone else having trouble fitting an iPad into the centre console?
