As Corey mentioned, as long as the car is still deemed "road worthy" it will still be covered if the mods fall within you cover limit with RACV. Not sure about the other insurers.

This varies from insurer to insurer. Allianz, for example, will not insure you if you make any performance modifications whatsoever.
Personally, I would recommend that you check with your insurer before making any changes, and ensure they'll cover you. If not, go elsewhere. There would be nothing worse than a denied claim due to uninsured mods. Some insurers will charge a higher premium for the mods (including Shannons at time of writing); others - such as the NRMA in NSW - shouldn't charge you more, or even in some cases require the mods be listed, as long as they're all legal.
I do think that being a female, over 30, has something to do with the low price :) Plus I don't owe anything on the car which is a question they always seem to ask..
Im still paying $315 (with all the gloss) for my 118TSi with RACQ. You guys aren't shopping around enough.
