There is NO comparison with aftermarket kits from e-bay. I see cheap HID kits, but they never come with the appropriate equipment to fit them. Just to name a few.Quote:

Once you have chosen not to factory fit, it's most likely going to be an expensive option to get them installed properly.
I currently own a car with factory fitted HIDs and would not even consider buying another car second hand or new, unless it had factory HIDs. In fact I have been looking for a second hand Jetta or Golf but cant find one with HIDs.

Hmmm - maybe that's your issue then. As with anything there are varying qualities of product. From what I have seen, I wouldn't rate the WRX's xenon lights as comparable to the VW's.Quote:

Regarding the Bi-Xenon headlights on the new GTI...
What do they look like, both in daylight and night?
Can you guys post up a few pictures?
Do they change the look of the front headlight panels of the the car, etc/Front profile.
Any other comments regarding the cosmetic changes it makes to the car.
Are they expensive to maintain? Say if a globe blows, etc? (If they do)

Do a google image search for "golf mark vi bi-xenon", it comes back with heaps of high resolution images of the bi-xenons in action.
Bulbs last a long time but if one blows you're looking at between $100 and $250 for a bulb depending on where you source it from.Quote:

Personally, I'm not a fan of the xenons up close (the scooped supports underneath the projectors just look odd), although I suspect I'm in the minority here. ;)
Also, the xenons are a different colour (whiter light) to the fog lights and parkers:

Love the black mags on the red Golf!!! I know it's a prsonal thing but I would prefer those on my GTI to the Detroits, the Detroits are just too loud.:-D
I'm sure it'd be relatively simple to swap out the bulbs in the low fog lights.
