Black or Silver Rims / Wheels on Golf R?

I have seen heaps of PICS, and please post any R shots that look good, with either Black or Silver 19's.

I am getting Rising blue and have ordered silver rims. But I cant help but feel that the black one, although initially uglier, will finish the car off seeing as though the headlight cluster AND side mirrors are black on the R.

I have seen a unitied grey, with black rims, that looks great!! I felt the black with black washed out the car too much (TSI stocka looking almost).

Any opinions, preferences or photos welcome?

This was my dilemma too! I ordered the 19" silver on Rising Blue in the end. I had the stock rims on my Mazda 6 MPS painted black so felt like a change and IMO I think the Talladega's look better in silver, though if I went black later I may find some nice light weight rims in black

Plenty of Golf R pics here - good resolution too!

I think silver looks better with rising blue.. Black wheels tend to hide the detail of the wheel and blend in with the tyre, so you may as well paint the 18" black. I'd probably get some different wheels alltogether and a slight drop then save on 19" rubber.

I found these over at vwgolf.

Whenever you option the 19" Black OR Silver wheels, you get these black headlight holders which I'm NOT a fan of:

The Xenon lights are a real design feature on the Golf for me, and to hide it in black is a shame IMO.

I also don't like the way the Black rims look when the sun is shining on them:

So I'm going for Silver 18" Talladega Rims. If I decide I really need something different, I'll buy aftermarket

The black wheels do look better in real life and in some photos that can capture them like these... Still don't rate black on blue, looks a bit average and cheap.

+1 that's what I'd do and chose some nice aftermarket wheels, some that dont look as small in 18". Would be fairly easy to sell the stock R wheels or keep them to put back on when you sell it. The 19" silver do look good though.

I love the look of the black 19" rims, especially since I would like to get the car in white, but I am still tossing up and down about getting them. I am worried that the tires for the 19" rims are very expensive to replace tho I am not entirely sure about the difference in costs for the tires between 18" and 19" (if someone can tell me that would be excellent), if it is too expensive, I will have to go with the silver 18" rims then...I believe, the silver headlight details does not go very well with the white car tho. On the other hand, darker color cars look much classier with silver headlights than the black trim, as I have stood in the show room for a good period of time comparing them.

Black rims = sexy... Black rims on a white car = super sexy...

(not that i'm biased or anything )

Ultimately - it will be your car, will you kick yourself if you get the smaller rims in a different colour in stead of the 19s in black? You have to be happy with the look, not anyone else, just you (even if the tyres are a bit more expensive - it will be worth it in the long run if you love your car )
I'm going to the pub... I may be some time...
